Servco Industrial
Application: Construction of Walt Disney Concert Hall
Architect Frank Gehry was selected to create the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Gehry's free-spirited approach and expressive use of shapes and materials have earned him an international reputation as one of the world's leading architects. Gehry designed the Concert Hall in CAD software called CATI, software not commonly used by architects. Walt Disney Concert Hall's dynamic and provocative exterior superstructure is clad in architectural stainless steel. The glazing company that was chosen to hang all of the exterior steel had never worked on a structure so complex and was not familiar with the CAD software that it was designed with. Using a Precision Industrial Total Station and 3D metrology software, as-built features were compared to the CAD model, and locations for hangers were calculated and set in 3D space.
